Parkside Performing Arts Company

Founded in 1988 by Laura Thomas Dutton, the Parkside Performing Arts Company (PPAC) is the performance company of Parkside Academy of Music & Dance. PPAC provides dedicated dancers with opportunities to grow as artists, performers, teammates, and leaders through meaningful performance experiences. This growth is reflected in the journey of Assistant Director Sarah Acchione, who began as a student, went on to serve as a rehearsal assistant, and now helps lead the company as Assistant Director.

PPAC’s season offers two distinct experiences. At the heart of the fall season is our annual production of The Nutcracker, a treasured tradition that brings together dancers, families, and our community to share the magic of this beloved ballet. From rehearsals to the final curtain, The Nutcracker creates lasting memories, builds confidence, and gives dancers the opportunity to be part of something bigger than themselves. In the spring, dancers continue their growth through regional competitions, culminating in a national competition experience.

Beyond our regular season, PPAC offers dancers unique performance opportunities that extend beyond the studio. Our company has performed at the Walt Disney World Resort and aboard Royal Caribbean cruise ships, most recently entertaining guests aboard the Liberty of the Seas sailing to Bermuda. We are also proud participants in the annual DelAWAREness Charity Showcase, supporting Autism Delaware through performance, fundraising, and community service.

Each season, The Nutcracker reminds us what makes PPAC so special: the joy of performing together, the magic of sharing a story, and the tradition of bringing our dance community together year after year. Through competition, our dancers develop discipline, resilience, teamwork, and the value of hard work. Together, these experiences help PPAC fulfill its greatest purpose: fostering confident, compassionate young dancers who carry the lessons they learn through dance far beyond the stage.
